FAQ ABOUT OUR RENTALS

Each year, Sitka Travel welcomes hundreds of guests to Sitka with over 50 homes currently in our vacation rental portfolio. Whether waterfront or downtown, these individually owned homes all have their own personalities that make vacationing even more fun and memorable for guests. There are rentals ranging from beautiful studios that sleep two people, to homes that sleep upwards of ten guests, making every getaway attainable and comfortable.

What Payments are Accepted?

Do You Have a Minimum Stay?

A minimum stay of 3 nights required during standard rental dates. Different minimum night stays may apply to special rental periods and/or individual rentals. See each rental to view the minimum night stay requirement.

Short Stay Reservations are less than 30 nights. The following tax structure applies to short-stay reservations:

  • 6% Bed Tax Year-Round for stays less than 30 nights
  • 6% Sales Tax Summer April 1 – September 30 for stays less than 30 nights
  • 5% Sales tax Winter Oct 1 – April 30 for stays less than 30 nights

Stays per 30 nights are sales and bed tax exempt.

What is Your Rental Base Rate?

The base rate is up to 4 guests. Each additional guest over 4 will be charged an additional $50 per guest per stay. Different rates may apply throughout the year.

Is There a Cleaning Fee?

See each individual rental for specific departure cleaning fee requirements. The standard for each short stay reservation, if the unit is left excessively dirty an excessive cleaning fee will be charged at $50 per hour, plus tax, above the standard departure cleaning fee, if any.

Extended stay reservations are per 30 nights. Extended stay reservations require a $300 non-refundable cleaning fee. On departure, if above normal cleaning is needed, such as carpets needing to be shampooed, the additional costs of these services will be charged to the guest. The costs vary with each rental and depend on the size of the rental and the condition it is left in.

How Do I Reserve a Rental?

We require 35% payment of the reservation total to reserve a rental, with the balance due 60 days prior to arrival. A reservation is considered confirmed when dates are held or blocked for guests and payment is received.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

No charge on cancellations made within 24 hours of booking. A 10% cancellation fee on stays canceled 60 days or greater before arrival, or departure. No exceptions.

No refund for stays canceled less than 60 days prior to arrival or departure. No exceptions.

We strongly encourage Travel Insurance.

Extended Stay reservations require a 30 day written notice to cancel a reservation after the reservation has begun.

Is There a Property Protection Program?

Our properties and their contents are valuable and reasonable care should be taken with them during their rental. Our company, including the participating rental property homeowners we represent, is an additionally-insured participant in a Property Protection Program that reimburses certain costs for unintentional accidental damage to our properties during their rental occupancy. Depending on the property, it will either be a $45 or $69 charge to the guest to cover the fee of the program. See each individual property for the exact cost.

What is Your Smoking Policy?

No smoking inside any rental. Smoking inside will result in a $600 Cleaning Fee automatically. An additional cleaning fee will be assessed if cigarettes are littered around the exterior of the property. Please dispose of cigarettes responsibly.

What is Your Pet Policy?

No pets are allowed without prior approval and only in select homes. A Pet Fee is required, see the Rental Agreement for more information on the Pet Fee.

Where Do I Check In?

No need to check in at our office. Please follow the arrival email details when checking into your property. Check in time begins at 3 p.m. You will receive the arrival email two weeks prior to arrival. Please do not check into your vacation rental early without prior approval. Select properties may have a different check in time, which will be outlined in the arrival details.

What is the Departure Time?

The check-out time is 10 a.m. sharp. A late check-out fee of $100 will apply on late departures. Please call our office to confirm on whether a complimentary late checkout is available. Note: this can only be extended on homes that do not have an arrival that same day.

Do you have charging stations for electric cars?

At this time we do not have electric car charging stations at any of our rental properties. Please ask for prior approval before charging your electric vehicle at one of our vacation rental properties.

What if I am Arriving Late?

All of our vacation rental properties have 24 hour check in. A door code will be provided prior to your arrival to access your rental. If your rental has a key lock entry details on accessing that rental will be provided in the arrival details.

Do You Provide Paper Products, Soaps and Other Household Supplies?

Yes – our vacation rentals are furnished with a supply of paper and soap products to begin your stay with us. This includes paper towels, toilet paper, face tissue, bath soap, dishwashing soap, and a starter amount of laundry soap. We encourage you to buy additional products for longer term stays.
