This 1915 historic home, by local Tlingit knowledge known as the ‘Copper House’ on the edge of the Sitka Indian Village, is situated in the heart of downtown Sitka. Right across the street is the famous ANB Harbor, oldest dock to Sitka’s commercial fishing fleet and right next door is Sitka's famous Pioneer Bar a local and fisherman's favorite hangout where fish tails have a habit of growing bigger and bigger the more they're told!.
While having your morning coffee, enjoy a pristine water view of the maritime traffic on the Sitka Channel, fishing boats at the dock, the O’Connell Bridge, and an ever changing, interesting parade of local people, culture and color!
Harbour House is only blocks away from a grocery store, the post office, shops, library, banks and historic places of interest. The old fashioned character and charm of this historic cottage home is felt as you enter the door providing a homey atmosphere, and comfortable, efficient accommodation for up to five people.
Harbour House comes completely furnished, including dishes, linens and bedding. The kitchen has the original cabinetry, new hardwood floor, electric stove, refrigerator, a built in benches and table nook, and stainless double sink with a window to watch the wild birds at the feeder. The upstairs can sleep four people, two bedrooms with two sets of twin beds in each, which can be joined together to make one king bed. Both of these rooms has a telephone.
The downstairs living room has a full length couch, desk, dresser, piano and other furnishings. A television, VCR/DVD player is available for plug in, and a telephone with answering machine.
The recently remodeled bathroom comes complete with an old fashioned, deep, claw-foot tub, corner sink, and washer and dryer. |
